Since the question of "what we know" (presumably meaning what Ukrainians know) has been raised, perhaps BrankoB could tell us what Ukrainians think of the "Rukh" team.
I couldn't answer that question, because I'm not Ukrainian.

The Stadtkommandant Kiew at that time was Generalmajor z.V. Kurt EBERHARD and not Generalmajor Friedrich EBERHARDT as it's mentioned in some sources.

The death match is a myth invented by the soviets. It was kept as a myth for so long as the true story is an embarressment for the Russians. The true story (in German):

http://einestages.spiegel.de/static/aut ... piels.html

It says that the German foreign ministry was even happy the German team lost as it was good for the relationship with the Ukrainians. It also says the Ukrainians played foul more than the Germans and that the Ukrainian team was partly made up of Dynamo players, a club founded or supported by the NKVD. The reason for arresting some players days later (not after the German match!) was that they were notified by the other Ukrainian team "Rukh" as being NKVD agents. Four were shot because they beat up the dog of the camp commander. Three in the Start team were spies for the Germans.

I dont know if Radomski had been de-graded or if he was serving as a Reserve soldier in the Waffen-SS or Heer when he died, or maybe his rank was not recorded correctly by VDK.
Surname: Radomski
Forename: Paul
Rank: Grenadier
Date of birth: 21.09.1902
Place of birth: Mewe
Date of death/ missing: 14.03.1945
Place of death/missing: nördl.Stuhlweissenburg
Paul Radomski is buried in the military cemetery in Veszprem.
Endgrablage: Block 3 Reihe 12 Grab 897
