Keep beating the dead horse. No one is trying to 'protect' Marinesko, he was a submarine captain and did his job. As for the Red Army and rapes, bump up the thread where that discussion is supposed to be, don't start it again in this thread. No Russians on this site 'protect' Red Army soldiers, we simply try to understand them and what they did and why, no one here denies that rapes, murders, pillaging, etc took place.Benoit Douville wrote:I agree with David, let's see some sources. We are looking for the truth here and what really happened. What is amazed me is that Russian member here try to protect Marinesko, why? I rarely see German member here try to protect German personal who committed atrocities. I am not only talking about Marinesko but for example the massive rapes committed by the Red Army against the German women at the end of the War on German soil...
Regards
it was a very simple thing, Marinesko was a submarine captain, he was ordered to do a war patrol, and sunk any ships he encounted, then he encountered Wilhelm Gustloff, which was a German navy ship, under escorted by German navy warships, so he sunk her, could that be more simple thing ? Germans of course would not imformed their ship schedule to Russians, so how could Marinesko knew what kind of people aboard the "Wilhelm Gustloff" ?
Re: Alexander Marinesko
Using an old thread here for my question.
I'm going to Saint Petersburg in a couple weeks and wonder if anyone knows where Marinesko's grave is located in Bogoslovskoye Cemetery.
