Admiral Hipper as a minelayer

Gentlemen,

I remember that the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper had carried mines and laid a few fields. What areas did the cruiser laid her mines? Did her mines claimed a few ships? I think at least two Soviet submarines were sunk by the cruiser's mines.

Sincerely,

hi,

HIPPER executed only 1 minelaying operation, code name ZARIN, in September (24-28) 1942, together with DDs Z 23, Z 28, Z 29 and Z 30.

The minefield was laid north-west of Novaya Zemlya; I do not know of any successes.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your answer. About how many sea mines did the Admiral Hipper carried for the operation?

Sincerely,

Hello,

Hipper carried 96 mines for "Zarin", results are unknown/undocumented.

Kind regards,
Rand
