Gentlemen:
I'm building a 1/72 sscale model of a DKM Vorpostenboot and need assistance in identifying a device.
Can anyone assist in identifying the vertical device on the prow of the ships in the attached photographs.

That is the attachment point for the cables which stream the Paravanes used to sweep moored contact mines. It swings down when in use.

Correction, in the first VPB the device appears to slide down the attachment to function.

OP is it from a kit or scratch built? I recall there was a VP boat kit in 1/72 announced years ago.
