Z-Plan details
Hello everyone: Has anyone tried to sit down and actually put each ship in the Z-plan into a slip of a shipyard to see if it works? I cannot find the dates of when ships were to be laid down (estimated I know) and the building capacities of each shipyard. Can anyone help me with this? I don't think the numbers add up. Al
I have heard that some of the latter BB designs would require a significant amount of dredging to even get in and out of German harbors. I suspect to get a good answer will depend on the time frame of the plan? IE my impression is that the Z-plan was modified as time went on I could be wrong in this but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am.

For the larger proposed designs, new and larger graving docks were to be built.

Re: Z-Plan details
Why do you bump a 3 years old thread just to copy info in the post by himmelhund above ??
(and without quoting him - or your source if it's not his post)
A question I have about those slips earmarked for those BBs is : were they existing by 1939 or should they have been built before the ships were laid down ? (well, for battleships from K onwards, as H&J were actually laid down)

Mescal,
Battleship K had a couple thousand tons, IIRC 2,980 tons, of material delivered to the shipyard prior to her expected keel laying. So, I think we can consider that one a "go".

518,000 tons
If completed, the KM should construct a 'Taranto-type' and 'Pearl Harbor-type' naval bases for this Z-plan ships. Hitler can still manage this shipbuilding program thru massive Nazi propaganda by 1947, that the war can still be won by 1945.
The 1941 Program:
---2 x 23,000-ton aircraft carriers...46,000 tons
The 1943 Program:
---4 x 10,000-ton heavy cruisers...40,000 tons
---128 x 750-ton submarines...96,000 tons
The 1944 Program:
---6 x 56,000-ton battleships...336,000 tons
