Re: Identify Ship with Hitler
Help me understand this.
-Your uncle's mother was Scottish.
-Your uncle served in the German Navy.
-Your uncle served in the British Army.
-Your uncle served in the American army.
Im sorry but I think you must be mistaken. This makes no sense whatsoever. How can someone who is at least half Scottish be in the German navy by the time he is 13-16 years of age THEN in not one, but 2 other (enemy) nations militaries? Just because he had the photo doesnt mean he was in it. Also, if you were alive long enough to recognize him when he was that young, how would you not know he saw Hitler whilst serving in the Kriegsmarine?

Well, Christie,
let´s clear the decks: The photo is taken by Heinrich Hoffmann at the 22. Mai 1933 in Kiel.
And it´s *tataaaaaa*...the PANZERSCHIFF DEUTSCHLAND
It´s still in the "Fotoarchiv Hoffmann" in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (BDB)
Technik: Fotografie (Zigarettenb)
Beschreibung Gruppenb (Hitler in Uniform, Reithose, Stiefeln u.Schulterriemen; linke Hand in d.Koppel eingehakt; an Bord d.Panzerschiffs Deutschland; e.Formation von Matrosen abschreitend; unter e.Geschützrohr)
The other persons: Blomberg, Werner von [Minister, Generalfeldmarschall 1878-1946]; Hitler, Adolf [Politiker 1889-1945]; Fischel, Hermann von [Kapitän]
Sigel 15; 70
Bild-Nr. hoff-7950
Bild
interne Bem. in: BA 4 J.publ.g.1279f Nr.142; IB 1933, Nr.23
Hope these helps
Ralf

Re: Identify Ship with Hitler
I believe the ship is Panzerschiff Deutschland.
I have recently seen an avi entitled "Das Leben von Adolf Hitler". It's a 96 min long. After the first 30 min of video you can see, by my opinion, the ship in question.
You can find the video at Google Video. Just enter Hitler in search field and browse the finding results.
Best Regards.

Hello to all
; more, after rummaging around ..............................
Hitler visits the German Fleet at Kiel.
In the second picture if the Führer stands with Kapitän z. See Lütjens, then I think the ship was the "Karlsruhe".

Re: Identify Ship with Hitler
hi, Raul,
greetings, the pb
That's clearly a single 6" (15 cm) mount in the background, the picture was taken on a Panzerschiff, probably "Deutschland".tigre wrote:In the second picture if the Führer stands with Kapitän z. See Lütjens, then I think the ship was the "Karlsruhe".

Hello to all
; a little complement.................
Hitler visit to Kiel on 22 and 23 May 1933.
Goebbels' diary: two days on the fleet: wonderful. With Hitler and Papen. Large reception. Blomberg, Raeder. Raeder committed with the Navy to Hitler. Parade of the garrison. Hitler presided from the front. Admiral Gladisch. A fine man. He takes me with him to one night exercise in the Leipzig. So it was only a kind of good will tour.

Any special circumstances for Kriegsmarine in those days (22/23 May)? TIA. Cheers. Raúl M
