Hi all,

I'm also trying to identify a vessel. I know this boat was active in the Channel during the summer of 1940. Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated. If the identity is not known, then do people know what Flotilla were operating in the Pas de Calais area during the Battle of Britain.

Thanks in advance for any help

With a thick main mast like that, König-class.
Derfflinger & Hindenburg had a tripod mast & near-sister Lutzow had a narrow mast.

Hi Takao,

I am not sure but it is possible that the tripod mast in Derfflinger & Hindenburg was added later during a reform...

A captured torpedo boat, ex-Italian Ariete class. Possibly TA-39.

Probably a harbor defense boat converted from civilian motorboat.

Hi all,

I posted this image here on 05 Nov 2018 and it was identified as a 28cm gun turret of Admiral Scheer but I am not really sure...

The image shows a kind of rim or lips in the openings of the guns that I have never seen in the Deutschland class ships and that were mounted in the Gneisenau-Scharnhorst after its completion.

Any idea ?

See the pictures on this link. Go down to “Additional Pictures”, there’s a picture taken in nearly same angle and rims are barely visible but there.

Hi Waleed

Well, I can not see these rims in the images of the link but maybe I have to graduate my vision.... :)

On the other hand, I found thsese images on Ebay.
Are these small crafts some type of standard ship of the Kriegsmarine ? :?

correction regarding message 879.

Boat is not a former French Chasseur but the ex-Belgian craft De Parel.

Sorry for first wrong answer.

Jaap
