Id. warship
Re: Id. warship
Please help to ID two ships in these photos:
#1. Minesweeper with Wolfsangel rune, what model or type is this? Photo has a caption - Port of Preveza.
#2. What vessel is this? Could be Pionierlandungsboot or PiLb 39 landing craft? Photo was taken in Crimea.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Alexander

... looks like HESSEN!

Hi Peter,Peter K. wrote

Well, It is possible also... I think it is a post-WWI era image...Looking more closely you can see the main foremast crowned by the telemeter shorter than in the Hannover or the Schliesen once modernized, I guess this is a difference with the Deutschland class battleships ...
Is this correct ?

Re: Id. warship
It´s definitly a BRAUNSCHWEIG - class battleship and I think its HESSEN between 1931 (only 12 x 17 cm) and 1934 (rebuilt).

According to Ebay photo caption the image would be taken in Riga around 1934

Re: Id. warship
This appears to me to be a Torpedo Boat 1937 which has been fitted with a bow mounted 37 MM bow chaser to counter British MTBs in the English channel battles. From the fitting of the Radar on the mainmast and the camo on the bridge it is most likely the T 13.

Re: Id. warship
Not even close. The Trygg class have 2 thin round funnels much smaller and different shaped bridge as well as a forward gun much closer to the bridge and not mounted on a bandstand. The Norwegian TBs of the Sleipner class are closer but do not have a flush deck, they have a pronounced break at forecastle. They also have a much smaller bridge and a forward gun much closer to the . Source of the pics is Wikipedia.

Re: Id. warship
You are quite welcome however on further research it is likely T 19.

Re: Id. warship
Yes, it is the Jacob van Heemskerck. I believe the large seaplane handling crane on the mainmast was present from approximately 1928-33, judging by photos at nimh-beeldbank.defensie.nl and elsewhere. Hertog Hendrik had a similar crane, but lacked the midship pair of 15cm casemates visible in your photo.
