"Z" Class Zerstorer info needed
Hello from Ireland, I've just joined the forum so I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask. I'm about to build Heller's 1/400 "Z31 Zerstorer" and would like to know if anyone can point me to information about the Z class ships, such as service history's, photo's, drawings, colour scheme's etc. I'm looking to build one with the twin turret forward that took part in any notable action(s). Any help would be really appreciated,
many thanks,
Aidan.
many thanks,
Aidan.

Re: "Z" Class Zerstorer info needed
Hi Andrzej, I've already got those pieces of information, they seem to be all that I can find on the internet, but thank you anyway. What I need if possible are some close up photo's, particulaly of the bridge area and deck fittings, the model kit is not very detailed and I want to improve it as much as possible. Are there any forums or websites that cover the "Z" class in detail? All I can find is what you have listed plus a few articles about the model, but nothing with any real in-depth information, most sites tend to cover the major DKM units and have very little about the "Z" class ships. thanks again, best wishes, Aidan.

Amongst other operations the Z-31 took part in the 'sledgehammer to crack a walnut' operation 'Sizilien', an attack and raid against Svalbard

Incidently, i have in my collection a promotion document to one of Z-31's captains, Hermann Alberts who was awarded the German Cross in Gold whilst in command.

By the way, there was no "Z-class Zerstörer", but several classes of destroyers (=Zerstörer), and all were having the "Z" prefix, with corresponding numbers after the prefix.

Here you will find information about the 15cm main guns, plus a sketch with the general arrangement and dimensions of the twin 15 cm turret and a pair of good photographs of Z-class destroyers.
