Hello Sturm78,
the shown torpedoes belong to the forerunner model of the G7a-Torpedo. I assume there are G 7v or G 7v* torpedoes. These torpedo types were in the use at the German Navy on the “pocket battle ship” DEUTSCHLAND (1935 change to 21' torpedoes), on the light cruisers (EMDEN, K-class cruisers and LEIPZIG up to 1934, then 21' torpedoes), on the old, formerly imperial torpedo boats and the training ships SCHLESIEN and SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN.

Here the main measures:
Diameter: 500 mm
Length: 7084 mm
Total weight: 1360 kg (G 7v) or 1345 kg (G 7v*),
Explosive charge: 240 kg (G 7v) or 280 kg (G7v*) of SW18,
Maximum range: 11,500 m/28.5 kts (G 7v) or 12,000 m/28.5 kts (G 7v*)
Range at maximum speed: 5500 m/40 kts

Regards,
Schorschl

If the caption "torpedo for U-boats" is correct, then this may be the original G7 which was a 50 cm U-boat torpedo that entered service during WWI. These were also used on some surface ships and were slightly smaller and lighter than the G7v series which were a late-1920s design.

Hi all,

I found this image on Ebay
According to photocaption, Dunkerque. I suppose that will be the torpedo launcher of a English or French destroyer sunk in this harbour in 1940.

Hello!
It looks like this laucnher had 2 tubes, so it could belong to French La Melpomene class torpedoboat. Still, none of them was sunk in Dunkerque. May be, Toulon or Bizerta, 1942? :?

Best regards, Aleks

Yes, judging by its position it is mounted on Saida class light cruiser.

Best regards, Aleks
