Does anybody knows how many ships (passager, merchant, warships) that were evacuating people from Eastern Prussia and Pomerania and were sunk by soviet submarines? Can you supply names of those ships? Thank you?

Hi Starinov

In Jurgen Rohwer's Allied Submarine Attacks of WW2-Baltic Section, he has details of 67 Russian submarine attacks and there subsequent conclusion during 1945.

Is there any particular incident your looking for or Submarine etc. I can post all the enteries but it will take sometime and effort. Please advise

Andy

Well, I asked the guy, he in return asked me to ask you if you could post the entire list. I know it takes time and effort but I would appreciate that...
Thank you...

January 1945

16/01 The Russian sub SC307 commanded by M.S.Kalinin sank the German steamer Stienburg(?) 6000t, 3 torpedoes were fired. Intially the SC307 had reported sinking the Henriette Schulte but this vessel had been damaged off Klaipeda and beached at the southern entrance to the harbour. The Stienburg had at first been hit by a mine of Liepaja and was stranded in a snowstorm before the SC307 struck

26/01 The sub L3 under Konovalov sank the German steamer Henry Lutgens with a mine it had laid earlier.

28/01 The sub K51 under Drozdov sank the German steamer Viborg, 4 torpedoes were used in the attack.

30/01 The infamous sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff by S13 commanded by Marinseko, which resulted in the deaths of 5384people, many of them refugees, whilst only 645 were rescued. 3 torpedoes were used in the attack.
Two other attacks were reported that day but without any vessels lost.

31/01 The L3 reports making the attacks against unspecified vessels without any reported hits, 9 torpedoes were used in the attacks.

The last surface to surface engagement of the Atlantic war was fought between German destroyers and Russian torpedo boats in May of 1945. Give me a little time and I'll get more info on the last ships sunk and which German destroyers were involved. Off the cuff I think it was Z-34.
