Kleinkampfverbände-Lehrkommando 100

#1

Post by nelsse00 » 20 Mar 2016, 04:29

Hi all,

My name is Sebastian Nelson and I recently obtained copies of my relative's military records from the Deutsche Dienststelle. Unfortunately I cannot read German and I am completely ignorant of German military history. My relative apparently served in the Kleinkampfverbände-Lehrkommando 100 (I hope I didn't misspell this)...can anyone here help me learn what this means?

Thank you very much!

Kleinkampfverbände units were Naval units set up late in the war and operated midget submarines such as the Seehund and Biber, manned torpedoes, explosive motorboats and frogmen. See here... http://www.axishistory.com/books/369-ge ... fverbaende

However, I can not find Lehrkommando 100, the lowest number I can find is 200. Is it possibly '700'?
Here is an organisation set-up... https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organisat ... iegsmarine
...and again... http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/km ... nd/kkv.htm

Thanks for your help! Here is a portion of the letter my cousin received from the archivist: http://heraldryjunkyard.tumblr.com/image/141370490337

...but maybe this just means he was captured along with the Lehrkommando, and maybe didn't serve with them??

The files also include some report-card looking things. On one of them he is listed as a seekadett (whatever that means) on the cruiser Nürnberg? http://heraldryjunkyard.tumblr.com/image/141370501242 On another, he appears as a fähnrich in some other thingy http://heraldryjunkyard.tumblr.com/image/141370548802

The first bit mentions when he was released from British captivity with, I'm assuming, his last German unit being Lehrkommando 100, but I still can not find a unit with that number.

With regards to the latter pieces he was selected to undergo Officer training at the start of a Naval career. He would of joined the Nürnberg to undergo training in a sea-going unit.
And as for Marinekriegsschule Schleswig, see here...

In Lohmann/Hildebrand "Die Deutsche Kriegsmarine 1939 - 1945, Gliederung, Einsatz, Stellenbesetzung, Band II", chapter 153, KdK - 9 - ff. are only listed:
Lehrkommando 200
Lehrkommando 250
Lehrkommando 300
Lehrkommando 350
Lehrkommando 400
Lehrkommando 600
Lehrkommando 700 and
Lehrkommando 800

A Lehrkommando 100 is astonishingly not mentioned!

I know that nowhere, in the known litterature, Lehrkommando 100 is mentioned, BUT I do have two Soldbücher in which this unit is mentioned and the unit also (of course!) had its´own Feldpostnummer. Can´t find it at the moment though. My guess is, that this unit was foprmed, or activated, very late in the war and served as some kind of Sammelstelle for those soldiers not active in other K-units. At least on paper.

Hello,
any sources for "
Lehrkommando 100 is training for the Hydra" ?
I only know "Sonderkommando Hydra" for education, source "Blocksdorf".
The 1. Hydraflottille never went in "action", ready in spring 1945, laid in Kolding (denmark), later Langballigau, surrendered in
Glücksburg (Germany Flensburg fjord)

Ludwig, i am interested in the soldbücher, can you find them?

Now I agree with @K-verband  that LK 100 was Hydra education.
I find in ULTRA decrypts (TNA DEFE 3), that Special Duties Command 100 and 200 goes to Langballigau.
This was the place , where the "Sonderkommando Hydra" was just before the end of the war.(Blocksdorf p.151)

Hi Ludwig,
doesn't matter, i am still interested in further.

In the meantime I have found further references to Lehrkdo. 100.
In May 1945 the LK 100 reported their boats and ships in Flensburg .
There were also "19 KLS-boats" , could mean "Klein-Schnellboot".
