Befehlshaber der Kreuzer and fate of the cruisers

Post by Cartaphilus » 11 Aug 2017 12:18

Hello friends.

Between 1937 and 1940, Kriegsmarine light cruisers were under the authority of the "Command of Exploration Forces" (Befehlshaber der Aufklärungsstreitkräfte), renamed on August 1940 "Cruisers Command" (Befehlshaber der Kreuzer), under Vizeadmiral Schmundt. It included too the pocket battleships, in addition of the former cruisers.

This command was disbanded on October 1941, and rebuilt with the same name on June 1942 under Vizeadmiral Oskar Kummetz.

My question is: what happened withe the cruisers between October 1941 and June 1942? What command did have them under its control?

hi,
Cartaphilus wrote:"Command of Exploration Forces" (Befehlshaber der Aufklärungsstreitkräfte),
The appropriate English title would be "Scouting Forces"
