Hi,

hope, here are some "Mariners":
Who can tell me anything about the Schnellboote S 19 and S 20: To which Flottille did they belong, did they sunk any ships and who were the commanders?

Andreas

Andreas,

Please don't write the link in your actual message too, it is already available through the "www" button at the end of everyone of your messages.

1/9/39 S19 and S20 were part of the 1st Flotiila operating in the Bay ofDdanzig area before moving to Heligoland.

April 1940 1st flotilla allocated to Group 3 for Operation Weserbung. S20 non operational, S19 damaged in collision with S21.

S19 based in Boulogne June 1940

S19 and S26 sink 3101 ton Rosebud off Dungeness.

S19 sinks 276 ton Kingfisher SW of Dungeness.

Based in Cherbourg 7/40.

Night of 4/5 July 1940 S19 sinks 4343 ton Elmcrest, S20 and S26 torpedo 6972 ton Brtish Corporal and 5500 ton Hartlepool

S19 commanded by Lt Toniges

S19, S20, S27 of 1st Flotilla between them sank 1013 ton Broadhurst, 646 ton London Trader and 821 ton Lulonga.

S19 and S20 to be moved to 4th Flotilla in Rotterdam as the 1st Flotilla is to receive more seaworthy S boats.

4th Flotilla mainly used for minelaying operations

Night of 19/20 August S20 and S 49 miss a destroyer escorting convoy FN 507.

This is last reference I have for either S19 or S20 at the moment.

Have come across this site

http://wiesel.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg ... -s%FCd.htm

It includes a listing of S boat successes, should include some of what you need :)
