Yesterday the head of the Royal Navy in the UK warned of Russia's potential capacity to cut undersea cables and disrupt communications.
Did Germany have any such plans in WWII?
I know that in WWI their raiders attacked isolated British cable stations on islands such as the Falklands and Cocos, and in WWII they cut overseas cables from the occupied European continent, but, again, this could easily be achieved on land.
But what about under the sea? It would certainly have caused the British real problems in co-ordinating their imperial war effort.
Did the Germans consider any adaptions to U-boats for such attacks?
Cheers,
Sid.

Gentlemen,
Almost sounds like one of Otto Skorzeny's plans that were never carried out.
