Deutsche Marinemission in Rumänien

#1

Post by CNE503 » 26 Mar 2018, 08:44

Hello,

I need some information about the German navy contribution to the Deutsche Militärmission in Rumänien.
First of all, when was it established? It appears that there wasn't a navy desk when the Deutsche Militärmission in Rumänien was sent in Romania in October-November 1940, and that it was created only a couple of months later (February 1941?).

Then, who was its commanders?
On April 5th, 1941, Vizeadmiral Friedrich-Wilhelm Fleischer was appointed Chef der Deutschen Marinemission in Rumänien. But who held this command before him, if ever?

Thank you for any help provided.
Regards,

die deutsche Marinemission was mentioned for the first time in the Befehl Nr.3 from 23.2.1941 of Deutsche Wehrmachtmission in Rumänien Abt.Ia Nr.345/41 geh. Unfortunately no names were provided.
Befehl Nr.2 from 12.2.1941 did not mention it at all.
According to Befehl Nr.4 from 27.2.1941 Küstenschutzgruppe Constanza was to report to Marinemission from 1.3.1941 12:00 hours
It contains Gliederung for Küstenschutzgruppe.

I think I've seen some folders for this Mission on John's FTP server.

Thank you for that. I didn't find such folders, but it doesn't mean at all that they don't exist. I will dig deeper!

Crossing different sources, I've found the following informations: Marinebefehlshaber B was established, apparently, on February 21st, 1941 to command the naval units deployed in Romania. Its first commander was Konteradmiral Friedrich-Wilhelm Fleischer (Vizeadmiral on April 1st, 1941). On April 5th, 1941, this naval command became Deutsche Marinemission in Rumänien.
So the naval mission in Romania was probably established around February 21st, 1941.
