HI Frank - thanks very much - Have found a really good book in German also called 'Hochseefestung Helgoland vol 2' by Claude Frohle / Hans Jurgen Kuhn ...very good - even if my German is not that brilliant I can 'sort of' understand it along with using Google Translate . Am thinking about doing a bit of a study for the whole Frisian Islands command ...looking at places like Wangerooge and the other occupied islands ..Any ideas ?

There was an issue of After The Battle Magazine(#154) on Heligoland. It would probably answer many of your questions.

Hello

A search on IWM for Heligoland:

https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/sear ... Heligoland

Could be some interesting pictures and reports there, also try a search heree and on the internet for "Operation Big Bang" also some interesting info on the fortifications on Heligoland.
