The German surface fleet has been heavily criticized for its achievements during the war. Admittedly, the failure of the Bismarck, Blücher, Tirpitz and Scharnhorst makes the overall score pretty bad.
I would say, however, that a couple of evacuations were very impressive. If Dunkirk is seen as a victory for the Brittish, how should we view the succesful German evacuations by see from 1943-1945?
What do you think about the capacities of the Kriegsmarine when it comes to the evacuations from Sicily, the Crimea and the Baltic?
Succesful evacuations or not?

I have always wanted to get more details on these operations. Of course the Scheer and Priz Eugen weren't designed and built for this kind of role, but their guns proved invaluable.
