The flight deck of Graf Zeppelin

#1

Post by Bitler » 21 Oct 2019, 08:53

Graf Zeppelin has always been my favourite aircraft carrier and based on many reference materials I always think that it had a wooden flight deck. However, I just bought the 1/700 model kit made by Trumpeter and find that it has a steel flight deck, and now I'm confused. I searched the web but couldn't find any reference to a steel deck Graf Zeppelin. If anyone can help me clarify this point I will be very grateful!

It was steel overlaid with wood.

You can find aftermarket GZ wood decks for purchase from various vendors.
