KTB SKL Teil A Band 37, seite 249-250. As i wrote above, there is stated SPICHERN has damaged motor via bomb's near miss. Looks like attack of Polish 304 sqn. Also there is mention that BRAKE was ordered to return (reason not given)

According polish pilot, he put eight 250 lb bombs. First bomb exploded +/- 10 yard from stern slightly to port. Than rear gunner racked deck and bridge. He said, that attacking ship was "Altmark class tanker" and attack was at 6.45 at position 43.38'N, 05.00W
