Water and Avgas storage on the capitol ships

#1

Post by RandJS » 12 Nov 2021, 00:35

Hello,

How much water and avgas did the capitol ships carry at the start of a raiding mission? I understand they have capabilities to distil water onboard, but I presume they had stores at the start of a mission. And what about avgas, as I've never read of resupply of avgas at sea.

Especially interested in the panzerschiffe since they were expected to stay at sea longer.

Thanks for any information,
RandJS

According to "Pocket Battleship Graf Spee" pg Siegfried Breyer, pg 5, on a standard displacement of 12575
it carried 91 tons drinking water, 110 tons washing water 56 tons cooking water, and 8 tons of aircraft fuel.

Correction should read pg 15.
