I would be grateful for any information or suggestions on where to find information regarding a brass plaque I have recently acquired for Leutnant Bruno Scheefe of Kreuzer Nurnberg which is dated 13.12.39. The font is in old German and states 'For Outstanding Service in the Sea War'
The plaque is 16x21mm with a High Seas Fleet award badge 6x4 mm in brass in the centre at the top. The plaque is bordered with oak leaves an with 4 anchors one in each corner, and two Iron Crosses at 9 and 3 o'clock. Is this an official presentation or a family item?
Many thanks.

Re: Brass Plaque Kreuzer Nurnberg
Since this original post I have now confirmed that this plaque is a total fake. Beware of incorrect German grammar on these plaques, I have recently seen a similar one for a U Boat Captain that sold for £1800 in auction!.
