Girls in factory.

In March 1944 all high schools across the country closed down until the duration of hostilities.Girl students between 16 to 18 were often shipped off to urban areas as "volunteers" to work in factories for the war effort.

In September 1943 conscription was extended to university students.Only those in a science courses(medicine, agriculture, veterinary etc) were exempt:these later areas of study were considered vital for the present and future benefit of Japan.

Student nationalists--by 1944 most would be in military service.
