Re: Japanese Women and the War Effort
There are occasional references in the memoirs of veterans about the participation of Japanese women in hostilities. In the underground fortresses in Manchuria and the Kuril Islands, including among the tank crews. There was a find of the remains of a murdered woman among the dead Japanese soldiers on the island of Shumshu. Is there more detailed information about this practice and how widespread has it been?
