Thank you for the photos on the bottom. They are helpful to understand the structure of the cupola.

The wreckage of cars found on Paramushiro Island near Cape Iwaki. Presumably the machine for laying cables and installing mobile searchlight.
Re: Battle of Shimushu
It was possible to identify the buildings on the island Paramushiro. Previously it was assumed that it was an anti-aircraft battery. In reality, it is the position of the Japanese air defense radars.
In the picture a similar system, captured by the Americans in the fortress Muroran.

105 mm gun Type 38 of the first battery of the 2nd artillery unit of the 91st Infantry Division at a height of 171, Shumshu Island. Commander of the gun Lieutenant 三浦 左 武 郎, memories of the fight from the Japanese side (in Russian translation) can be read here:

In 2016, the position of this gun was examined, a bannik and chargers were found, and the remains of a Japanese soldier who blew himself up with a grenade were found under the boxes.

Judging by the solid wheel, it's likely a Komatsu similar to the one the US captured on Guadalcanal.FreyFox wrote:It is an island of Matua. Strange Japanese steam device. Airfield rink or prime mover?
