Re: Aircraft Unit Identification
These Spad XIII-1s seem to have a red stripe around the fuselage. "Enemy"? perhaps.

Re: Aircraft Unit Identification
The 45th Bomber Sentai never had Ki-43s, also it never had a lighting bolt for a symbol. Earlier on in this thread I posted aircraft that were of the 45th Sentai. Here is what resembled to me the 45th Sentai's lightning flash, in close-up and pencilled-over in outline:
I have yet to find a unit with a lighting bolt that is similar to this aircraft.... It seems to be in yellow though.

Re: Aircraft Unit Identification
This E14Y with the code 671-11 is from the 671 Kagun kokutai assigned to the 6th Kantai and I assume that the 11 on the fuselage means its from the submarine I-11. (probably wrong on that one but it's a guess.)

E13A with the code "X-7" belongs to the Kamikawa Maru. The light cruiser Yura also had a "X" code but it was never equipped with E13As.

F1Ms with the tail code "ZII-xx" belong to the Sanyo Maru. On another note E13As with a "ZII-x" belonged to the Hokoku Maru.

1. "F-320" belongs to the 4th Kaigun Kokutai.
from http://wn.com/Imperial_Japanese_Navy_Air_Service
2. "R-360" belongs to the Kisarazu Kaigun Kokutai. The 2 stripes mean it belongs to the 3rd Chutai, (weird I know). The single stripe around the fuselage means it also belongs to the 1st Rengo Kokutai. (I don't know what it means).
3. All these aircraft are from the Misawa Kaigun Kokutai. The 3rd Chutai carried a vertical stripe whiel the 2nd Chutai below has a horizontal stripe around the middle of the tail.

Re: Aircraft Unit Identification
"K-XXX" codes belonged to the Kanoya Kaigun Kokutai.
K-357 and K-324 both belong to the 2nd Chutai because of the single whit stripe on the tail. No stripe would mean an aircraft of the 1st Chutai, and two stripes; the 3rd.
