Was this tactic used much or at all in China or adjacent areas?

Loosely translated as suicide charge.

But more attuned to the "Forlorn Hope" style of attack I think.

Don't think Japanese forces had to resort to "suicidal charges" too often in China.

Most Asian countries because they had bolt action rifles which took a while to reload. Now compare this to the Allied machine guns which were meant to keep a steady fire for a long time before reloading. Which scenario would the Banzai Charge have been used as a last resort?
