Did Japan Lose a Rocket Launcher?

Post by Blargh » 05 Jul 2014 16:11

Not an artillery rocket, but another anti-tank rocket launcher like the bazooka.

Recently, I became interested in the transfer of technology from Germany to Japan. This lead me to reading the 1946 US Naval Technical Mission to Japan's Report 0-56(N): Japanese Field and Amphibious Equipment, Kyushu Defense Systems. On page 11, it provides a brief summary of an 8cm anti-tank rocket launcher produced by the IJN, along with two pages of extremely poor quality images of the weapon. I've added all that stuff at the bottom of this post.

I've spent the last several days scrounging the web and a wide variety of reference material (which admittedly is very light on naval subject matter) and I haven't been able to find any further mention of it. Does anyone know anything more about this weapon, or did I just rediscover something that was almost lost to the annals of time?

It is 8cm Navy Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher. It will be mentioned in the following book. Wait until the book is published.

Hi.

I just found the same source. Sadly the book link is dead, do you have a working one?
