> If anyone is interested, here is another Chinese site with quite a few photos of Manchukuo river vessels and maritime police from page 3 onward. On the first two pages I don't know what vessels those are: http://military.china.com/zh_cn/dljl/kr ... 160_2.html

They are 定邊(Ting Pien). The right one on the photo of two vessels is 親仁.

> Also here is another website with photos of both Navy and Maritime Police vessels. There is even one of Puyi in admiral's uniform. The website claims that Hai Wei carried a seaplane, but I don't know what type: http://60-250-180-26.hinet-ip.hinet.net ... ndex6.html

Type 90-1 Reconnaissance Seaplane or E3A
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aichi_E3A

> Also if anyone knows, when Hai Wang (海王) was sunk in 1945 was she still under Manchukuo control or had she been transferred to Japan? I didn't see any record of her being transferred, so I suspect she was still under the Manchukuo flag?

It seems still Manchukuo ship.

I really like the look of these ships. What type of ship are they?

It looks like there is some kind of emblem on the bow of the ship; is it the emblem of Manchukuo?

I mean the metal disc on the bow. I've seen Japanese warships with the Imperial Japanese Seal.
Did Manchukuo place Puyi's Imperial Seal on the bow.

Does anyone know if the planes of the Maritime Police were all land-based, or did they have any ships that were capable of carrying a plane? (like how the Navy ship Hai Wei carried a seaplane).

海威(Hai Wei) was not Navy ship, but Maritime Police ship. So, Maritime Police had a ship carrying a plane.

You're right, for some reason I saw it listed on wikipedia as a Navy vessel. But I went back and checked my other sources and it looks like it was Maritime Police.
Sorry about that.

Regarding the Navy and the Maritime Police, does anyone know where those two organisations had their training facilities? I'd guess the Maritime Police were probably around Yingkou, since that was a main port for them, but I don't know any evidence for that, or any guess where the Navy would have their training facilities...

Also Taki, you mentioned several posts back about some Manchukuo Navy cadets being sent for training in Japan in 1934. Can I ask where you found that information, and also if you know what IJN schools they attended?

Thanks Taki. That last school looks like engineering/mechanical training.

This is probably a long shot, but does anybody here know if there are any personal accounts surviving from guys who served with the Manchukuo Navy or Maritime Police? I was reading that some of the Japanese personnel were later recalled back to the regular IJN during WW2, so maybe there are some recorded/written accounts from IJN vets who spent some time in Manchukuo before?

I doubt there is much info surviving from the Chinese crews, but if for some reason anybody knows then that would definitely be interesting too...

Does anyone know roughly what the ratio of Japanese to Manchurian officers were in the Maritime Police? This website claims that at one point out of a strength of about 800 men, half of them were Japanese sailors, but it doesn't specify about officers vs. ratings: http://www.marinavasca.eu/en/ficha-otra ... p?id=36&o=

Has anyone seen any info about Manchukuo's river fleet operating in Rehe province? In 'Rays of the Rising Sun' Philip Jowett mentions a "River Fleet" that was part of the Rehe Guard Army in the 1930s, but gives no serious details.
