Hello. Mark P. Parillo "The Japanese Merchant Marine in World War II". In the book reads as follows: Just as bizarre was the scheme to build high-speed tankers capable of sailing from the oilfields of the East Indies beyond the airspace of Australia and them dashing through the Allied lines in the Central Pacific to deliver petroleum To the home Islands. And there is a link to such a document from which this information on high-speed tankers is taken. Intelligence Summary No. 76, February 10, 1943 706.607, USAFHRC; Oi, The Maritime Protection War, 327. Please tell me where can I find this document? I want to learn more about these high-speed tankers. Thank you in advance. Regards Nickolai Kachalin

I don't know if Dr. Parillo is a member of this group but I will attempt to answer your question.
--Kaijo Boei Sen (海上護衛戦)(Parillo cites it as Kaijo Goei Sen) is volume 46 in Senshi Sosho (the Japanese official history of World War II). The title is variously translated as "Surface Defensive Actions", "The Maritime Protection War", and "Naval Operations for Convoy Escort." This is a Japanese language book. I don't know where you live but in the U.S. copies of this book are only available at a few of the larger university libraries and generally only those with specialized Asian language collections.
--Intelligence Summary No. 76 can be found in the U.S. Air force Historical Research Agency's Southwest Pacific Area (SWPA) Allied Air Forces Intelligence Summaries Collection. 706.607 is their catalog number. You can contact them at http://www.afhra.af.mil/Contact-Us/ regarding obtaining a copy.
