Awesome...thanks! A couple questions:

1) For I-58 Navigators, I have a TANAKA Hiroyuki (田中宏謹) from Eta Jima Class 72...could this possibly be him?

2) Is this correct for I-58 Chief Engineers?

Although Naval Transfer and Promotion Lists says the kanji for him was 田中宏謨, the webpage below says 田中宏謹 was Navigation Officer of I-58.

How quick did people get promoted in the last years of the war? The highest rank I can figure for Class 72 would be LTJG.

MID - 09/15/43
ENS - 03/01/44 (Estimate)
LTJG - 03/01/45 (One year)

Less than one year from LTJG to LT seems quite a stretch. Thoughts?

The below is his carrier. The term of LTJG was shortened.

Promoted to MID: 15 September 1943
YAKUMO Crew (MID): 15 September 1943 - 15 November 1943
UNYO Crew (MID): 15 November 1943 - 25 February 1944
KAIYO Crew (MID): 25 February 1944 - 15 March 1944
Promoted to ENS: 15 March 1944
KAIYO Crew (ENS): 15 March 1944 - 15 April 1944
Naval Submarine School Regular Course Trainee (ENS): 15 April 1944 - 15 August 1944
I-58 Crew (ENS): 7 September 1944 - 25 September 1944
Promoted to LTJG: 25 September 1944
I-58 Crew (LTJG): 25 September 1944 - 1 June 1945
Promoted to LT: 1 June 1945
I-58 Crew (LT): 1 June 1945 - 5 June 1945
I-58 Navigation Officer (LT): 5 June 1945 - ???
He survived the war.
