Thanks for the info! I now have COMPLETE records for KAKO, HAGURO, MYOKO, TAKAO, MAYA, CHOKAI, MIKUMA, and CHIKUMA!

As to exact commissioning months for the Paymaster Auxiliaries, if you can't find them, I completely understand, though I would like to know about two:

KATSUMI Jiro 勝海二郎 (NACHI)
NAKAMURA Shinichiro 中邨信一郎 (ASHIGARA)

Also, SHIMAO Heishichi 嶋尾平七 was listed as Mobilized...is there any info available on when he was first commissioned?
MSG, MS State Guard (Ret.) - First Always!

41) Was YAEGASHI Gunzo a Communications Officer instead of a Commanding Officer? He seems way too junior in rank to be CO of an Naval Air Group. Just curious.
Yes. It was my mistake.

I’m not sure. There is the possibility special duty officer belonged to Naval Dictinct other than Yokosuka was appointed on 20 November 1943. Maybe LT ISONO Masanori belonged to the same Naval Distinct.

Probavly the personnel changes below were envisioned before the sinking. (61), survived Commanding Officer of ASANAGI was attached to Kure Naval Distinct on 1 June 1944. I guess the reflection on the sinking of Yokosuka was not in time.

According to War Diary of ISUZU, he was alive on 20 October 1944.
According to Yokosuka Naval Distinct Jiri Koho, he was not relieved from 21 October - 28 November.
FUNAKI Yoshitsuna 舟木喜綱 was appointed Division Officer on 28 November 1944.
On 14 March 1945 above appointment was corrected to “appointed Naimucho as regular post and Division Officer as additional post on 28 November 1944
My best guess is INOUE Goro 井上五郎 dead by illness shortly before 14 March 1945.

This photo appears on Getty Images as K. Matsuyama, but there is no data on any K. Matsuyama. I believe it is Mitsuharu Matsuyama, from when he was commander of the 18th Squadron.

Hello Teitoku,

Since the latter three officers are wearing staff aiguillette. They are Staff Officers. Tthere are two possibilities from the career of RADM Matsuyama. I think it was 105th Squadron, not 18th Squadron.

18th Squadron (1st Gen.)
Commanding Officers
(40): 11 June 1942 - 24 December 1942 (13 C13072085800 / 46 C13072088600)
Staff Officers

(51): 1 December 1941 - 24 December 1942 (3 C13072083300 / 47 C13072088600)
(Gunnery)
VACANT: 15 November 1940 - 24 December 1942
(Communications)
(63): 3 June 1942 - 10 December 1942 (44 C13072085700 / 42 C13072088500)

105th Squadron
Commanding Officers
RADM / ??? (Mobilized): 5 May 1945 - 15 September 1945 (8 C13072104900)
Staff Officers
(Head)
CDR / ??? (51): 5 May 1945 - ??? (9 C13072104900)
(Communications)
LT / ??? (67): 25 July 1945 - ??? (32 C13072106700)
(Engineer)
LT / LT ONAKA Shin’ichi 尾中伸一 (Eng.48): 5 May 1945 - 20 June 1945 (12 C13072104900 / 48 C13072105800)

2nd Fleet Staff in Yamato:

CAPT YAMAMOTO Yuji
¿?
VADM ITO Seiichi
VADM NAKAMURA Toshihisa
RADM MORISHITA Nobuei
¿?
¿?

Of the officers in the front row I imagine one of them will be TERAKADO Masafumi. I don't know who the officers behind are.

Japanese WIKI says that the photo was taken on 5 April 1945, but the terms of some officers show that "5 April 1945" is incorrect.

I would say KO Yoriharu or YUFU Kikuo. It is also featured in the group photo of 24 June 1943 (left).

From the shoulder insignia, I presumed that the unknown officer was Medical CAPT. If so, it would be Musashi Medical Officer, CAPT 藤木愿 FUJIKI Sunao. I searched for and found his picture. On the left person of the photo below is LCDR FUJIKI Suneo in 1937 (6 years ago). I believe the unknown officer was CAPT FUJIKI Sunao.
However, I can't understand why only Musashi's Medical Officer was in the picture of the headquarters. This is a great mystery.

The biow is the carrier of him.

Without saying that it is not FUJIKI Sunao.

1. In this (https://twitter.com/akizukipm/status/77 ... 63396?s=19) Twitter thread it is said that the big guy is FUJIKI Sunao:
