Cycle time for large naval operations

What was the typical "cycle time" for a Japanese large fleet unit to prepare, move, operate and return to base ? For example, The Pearl Harbor strike left Japan on Nov 26 (?), moved until Dec 6. Striking PH on the 7th, it then travelled home until Dec. 23. This would indicate a cycle of ~1 month, not counting time spend replenishing, repairing and refitting.

I realize this is a broad question, but I am leaning towards 1-2 months as a typical cycle time. I have been unable to find similar information for Midaw or Coral Sea for the Japanese.
