Any assistance identifying this item

Post by Daryl Bauer » 12 Dec 2018, 19:57

Hello everyone,

I was recently researching the attached item and fell short of information. I believe it to be Imperial Navy Officer's Hat. Does anyone have any information on this?

Thank you

Hello Daryl

Navy would have an anchor in the middle.
I think this has a fire fighter or civil defence insignia. Not quite sure of period - ww2 or maybe earlier.

Thank you very much, do you have any idea what the text stitched on the inside might mean?

Sorry, no help there. Try posting that image or a link to here in the translation section.
If that does not help, try this forum

Hi Taki,

When you say Takeda do you mean like the royal family The Takedas or was it a fairly common name?

Royal family The Takeda? I don't know such a royal family. Anyway, Takeda is a fairly common family name in Japan.

About the item, the name was stitched from left to right. It is a writing manner in modern Japanese. So, this item was made after WWII.

I understand now. You said about Prince Tsuneyoshi Takeda. He is 竹田. But, the name on the item is 武田. They are different names.
