Warrant Officer Kojura Wada was the strategist successful in disabling three M4A3 Shermans at the Battle of Luzon using three of his Type 97 Shinhoto Chi-ha tanks.
Although his tank was disabled in the engagement, it is mentioned he survived. However I can't find out anything about him prior to or after that tank battle.

I would definitely be interested in more information about him, if there is any!

After China Incident happened, he participated in China campaigns as a member of 1st Tank Battalion (later 7th Tank Regiment). In the Pacific War, he fought in the Philippines campaign 1941-42.

After WWII, he published a memoir about Urdaneta tank battle in 1960. He died in 1983.

Was his final rank Warrant Officer, or did he progress into the officer ranks like WOs were eligible to do? I believe the highest they could go was Major / Lieutenant Commander, although three or four rare cases were promoted Commander at the end of the war.

Thank you very much for the information!
Was his memoir ever translated to English?

No. But, I inserted its abridged translation in my book.

Thanks again! I ended up getting the Kindle version available on Amazon.
I appreciate and admire the work you do for WWII Japanese armored history.
