Omura Naval Air Group
Omura Naval Air Group
I am looking for some information on the movements of the 14th Kokutai of the Omura Naval Air Group. I am not sure if Omura was the commander or the name of the air group. possibly in Japan, Korea or Taiwan as no naval location code is used.
Tank you for you help.

Re: Omura Naval Air Group
There was an Omura Air Group. It was activated on 1 December 1922 and deactivated on 5 May 1945. I have a complete CO listing, but no information about assignments other than it was assigned to 12th Combined Air Group from 1 March 1945 until its deactivation on 5 May 1945.

・ Kisaragi Naval Air Group of 1st Combined Air Group was advanced to Omura and started famous cross the sea bombing on 8 August 1937.
・ In preparation for the Wuhan capture action, 15th Air Group was activated at Omura Naval Air Group oin 25 June 1938.
・ With the completed the capture of Wuhan, 15th Air Group was deactivated on 1 December 1938.

・ 21st Navy Air Yard was attached on 1 October 1941.

Re: Omura Naval Air Group
fontessa - thank you once again for the history of Omura group.
Is this history a result of your research or there is a Japanese book with short histories of IJN air units like this?

Hello Eugen,
I'm praised and uncomfortable, but it's not as much as "the result of my research." I'm just excerpted from Japanese Wiki.

If I will manage to meet you in person one day, you will really know, what my prize is
You see - in my opinion you (and other Japanese members of this forum) don't get enough prize for your input here. It may seem small thing for you - but before your post I had no idea one can find so many information on naval air group on Japanese Wikipedia. And so on on many other "small" details on Japan and its military.
So I really appreciate your input and hope, that other members appreciate it as well.

Re: Omura Naval Air Group
I agree with Eugen on this...I wish the information on Japan Wikipedia carried over to the English versions of those articles! But more importantly, I agree with him on the fact that the Japanese members of this board - in my case, Fontessa in particular - have helped me immensely in my efforts to have a complete listing of IJN officers. Thanks to their generous help, my two main documents - one an officer listing and the other a career listing - now total over 4,000 pages. So again, to all those who have helped over the years, Arigatou, gozaimasu!Eugen Pinak wrote: ↑20 Feb 2020, 23:12If I will manage to meet you in person one day, you will really know, what my prize is
