Use of captured Allied weapons by Japan's puppet armies?
Use of captured Allied weapons by Japan's puppet armies?
I've come across one or two books that reference some of Japan's local puppet forces in places like China and Southeast Asia being given captured Allied weaponry to supplement stocks of Japanese weapons, but they don't go into much detail. Does anyone have info to share on which puppet regimes/armies made use of captured Allied weaponry, specifically what Allied weaponry they used and in what quantity?

Thanks! Do you know if the Ganap or Makapili auxiliaries in the Philippines used any American weaponry that might have been captured or left over after the Japanese took the islands? Or if the Empire of Vietnam used any French equipment during its short existence?

The Empire of Vietnam wanted to organize army. So, General Tsuchihashi at Hanoi sent 10,000 rifles, bayonets, pistols and ammunition captured from the French to the Empire of Vietnam at Hue. But, they were robbed by Viet Minh on the way and did not reach at Hue.

Thanks again. What about the puppet states in China, like Manchukuo or the Wang Jingwei government? I know they used some captured weapons from China, but what about weapons from Soviet or Western Allied stocks that might have been captured?

Extensive use made of UK weapons captured in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaya. In fact in one very sad series of images Japanese soldier use Captured Sikhs for target practice with SMLE rifles then bayonet them.
Use of Springfield M1903's US M1917's and Gas trap Garands in the Philippines by occupation forces
Any submachinegun they could get their hands on

By puppet forces though? Or are the examples you found only of Japanese soldiers?LineDoggie wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 23:40Extensive use made of UK weapons captured in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaya. Manchukuo Army did not use any weapons captured from the Soviet.
Wang Jingwei government Army used Western weapons. But, they were exported to China and Wang Jingwei government Army captured them from Kuomintang Army or warlord forces. They were not captured from Allied countries.
