At the time of Nanjing Incident of March 24, 1927 in which the Japanese consulate was looted, the consul shot at, and a sailor killed: the Fleet had the cruisers Hirado, Tone, Tenryu, Sendai and Isuzu, DesDiv 16, Asagao, Yugao, Fuyo, Karukaya, DesDiv 24, Momo Kashi, Hinoki and Yanagi, DesDiv 28 Tade, Hasu, Yamogi, Wakatake, and the gunboats, Ataka, Fushimi, Sumida, Saga Seta, Hira, Hozu, Toba, Katada and the always mysterious destroyer Urakaze. What was their location on March 24 and subsequently till late April? I understand that the Izumo was added on April 1 and probably went to Shanghai, the Yahagi was added on April 7th and the 9th DesDiv on April 12-Kuwa, Maki, Keyeki,Tsubaki.
DesDiv 16 was at Qingdao and then departed for Shanghai
DesDiv 24 was at Nanjing and then shifted to Shanghai:
Des Div 18 came up to Nanjing and then departed for Hankow on April 2rd or 4th
Ataka was at Shanghai until March 28 when she departed for Hankow
Any assistance is much appreciated. I think the gunboats are the most elusive.
