Japanese General Information, Please
Japanese General Information, Please
Hello Everyone,
One of my Yosegaki Hinomaru (prayer) flags is signed by a Lt. General named Ichise Gensuke and was presented to a Mr. Oda Shinpachiroh.
Can anyone here please tell me about General Gensuke? Any back round information on his life, when and where he served, etc.? I've not been able to locate anything about him. And, if anyone has any possible information on the Mr. Shinpachiroh mentioned on the flag, that would be great also!
Thank you very much in advance for any and all information on either man.
Respectfully signed,
George K.

WOW, that didn't take long. "ijnfleetadmiral", and "VJK", thanks very much!
It's great to know something about one of the signers of one of these flags, and since this gentleman held a high rank I was hoping there would be some information about him.
Another one of the signatures on this same flag may be a from a Major Takahashi Jyuh'zoh?? My apologies if the names are written here backwards. The recipient must have been someone special to have two officers sign his flag...
My best to all.
George K.

Hi George,
The second signatory is most likely future Major General TAKAHASHI Juuzo.
Kind regards,
VJK

VJK, Darn, you're good!
Thanks very much for this much- appreciated additional information.
Although I have been this flag's "caretaker" for a handful of years, I have only the seller's photo of it taken at the time of its purchase. Please enjoy.
