Fushimi Maru

#1

Post by Fatboy Coxy » 03 Apr 2022, 11:25

Hi all, can anyone help

Niehorster has Fushimi Maru and Ryoyo Maru landing Japanese forces on the Kra Isthmus at Chungpong, modern Chumphon, on 7th December 1941
http://www.niehorster.org/014_japan/41- ... ra_01.html

However Fushimi is listed as 4,936 tons, and I am wondering if this is the right ship. I thought Fushimi Maru was 11,750 tons roughly, and was under civilian control. Can anyone confirm who was present at Chumphon please

There were some Fushimi Marus in Japan. Fushimi Maru at Chumphon was commandeered from Naigai Kisen Shipping Company. Fushimi Maru which you said as 11,750 tons would be from Osaka Shosen or Nippon Yusen Shipping Company.

Yes as Akira pointed out, there were a lot of Fushimi Maru's. At least 7 that I have that participated in WW2.

Akira also has the correct one at Chumphon - the 4,935 ton ship completed in 1937 for Naigai Japanese army # 287.
