WW2 wrecks are being completely stolen/illegally salvaged. Over 60% of HMS Perth has been illegally salvaged.

This 'news' should not come as a surprise as most of the salvage took place prior to 2016, that is between 2012 -2016 and has been well documented.

What is surprising though is some of the comments left by viewers of said video, the best being something along the lines of if Britain wanted to protect PoW and Repulse they should have refloated them and after patching up, sailed / towed them back to England and then refurbished them and kept as memorials!!! :o

On the other hand, it is also known who the dogs are that did this illegal salvaging (well the companies that is), but seems nothing can, or has been done to them save a very very light slap on the wrist at most.

And now after the wrecks, or most of them are long gone there is a drive to protect the places where they once lay. Go figure! 8O

“A review of the situation at about 11.00 was not encouraging.” Capt. Gordon, HMS Exeter. 1 March 1942
