Japanese Navy Conversion Of Battleships Into Hybrid Aircraft Carriers

Post by Richard Stone » 16 Sep 2023 18:03

The attached article discusses the Japanese Navy’s conversion of several of its older battleships into hybrid aircraft carriers.

The article was printed in the March 1949 issue of the USA professional military reference magazine ‘Military Review’.

I posted this article in the site section ‘WW2 in the Pacific & Asia'. I’ve reposted it here to aid researchers of the Japanese Navy.

I was fourteen (1965) in a town in Indiana, one those with one stop light. I went into the local hobby store and found the Revel ship display. I pull one don't and yelled "ISE, in the hermaphrodite configuration!" The store owner came over and looked carefully at the box. "Your right, son. Here you go." He put the model in a bag and gave it to me. "Um, I'm going to need a note." "I understand. Here's the store's number, I'm Jake." Very cool, three times over.
