Japanese Attack Balloons Launched Against USA Mainland

Post by Richard Stone » 22 Sep 2023 18:07

The two attached articles discuss the armed long range attack balloons the Japanese launched against the USA Mainland in 1944 and 1945.

The remains of several of these balloons were discovered in the forests of the USA West Coast, including the state of Oregon, into the 1980s.

The first article was printed in the February 1945 issue and the second article in the October 1947 issue of the USA professional military reference magazine ‘Military Review’.

I posted this article in the site section ‘WW2 in the Pacific & Asia'. I’ve reposted it here to aid researchers of the Japanese armed forces.

Hi
From the 1946 USAAF report on the 'Japanese Aircraft Industry in WW2' reprint from ISO Publications (1996):

I hope that is of interest
