I think the photo of A-20 was taken in the Bismarck Sea in March 1943 and the ship under the attack was 旭盛丸 Kyokusei Maru. It was called "Dhampir Strait Tragedy" in Japan because 8 transports* and 4 destroyers** were sunk.
* 新愛丸 Shinai Maru, 帝洋丸Teiyo Maru, 愛洋丸Aiyo Maru, 建武丸 Kenmu Maru, 旭盛丸 Kyokusei Maru, 大井川丸 Oikawa Maru,太明丸 Taimei Maru and 野島 Nojima
** 白雪 Shirayuki, 朝潮 Asashio,荒潮 Arashio, and 時津風 Tokitsukaze
They were mainly sunk by skip bombings. After this, the IJA and IJN were severely damaged by skip bombings. The photo below shows Kaibokan No. 1 sunk by a B-25 from the 499th Bomb Squadron on April 6, 1945. The bottom photo shows the crew clinging to the sloping port side. the black dots on the sea seems to have been the crew heads who jumped into the sea. I can't watch it.
