I recall that the D3A also had a level Bombing Bomb Sight?

Specifically this:

It was not a bomb sight, but a 偏流測定器 drift-measuring device. Other dive bomber - like Suisei - was also equipped.

We have discussed it in D4Y1-C case.

OK, so the D3A1 & 2 Did not have a capacity to level bomb, only dive bomb correct ?

Yes.

Additional Comment
Betty used a level bombing site for the drift measuring. (Since it was necessary to correct for drift when aiming, the bombsight could also measure drift.) Dive bombers used a drift measuring device of which the aiming function was removed from a bombsight. So the two looked similar.

Presumably these could also be found on any IJN (IJA? as well) planes that were required to fly long distances, like the C5M, But would the Tabby of used one?

Of course, the bomb sights used by the IJAAF were also capable of measuring drift. However, because the IJAAF conducted "Geographical Navigation'' over land, it did not do the measurement of drifting currents. (So, no IJNAF airplane had a drift meter.) The exception was the 98th and 7th Air Regiments using Peggy, which conducted torpedo bombing under the Navy's command. Naturally, "Dead Reckoning" with drift measurement was necessary over the sea, and this was thoroughly trained by the IJNAF.

What is Tabby?

I noticed 偏流測定器操作盤 in your picture now...
A drift meter was installed on top of this to measure drift.

I also find gun sights.

L2D is Tabby

I thought that the ring and bead sight was a back up for use if the main telescopic sight in someway failed, but that the optical sight was the primary sight for firing the machine guns as well as dropping the bombs?

I don't think they were backups for each other because they had different scales. Interesting to compare with Ki-51's.
