Reinforcement Run (Tokyo Express) to Guadalcanal on 20/21 Nov 42?

Post by BuNo02100 » 25 Jan 2024 23:44

I made a notation in my work of a Reinforcement Run to Guadalcanal by four destroyers in the evening of 20 November, early morning of 21 November carrying food and medical supplies. Problem is, I can not find in my notes where i referenced that from. I went back over Tanaka, Japanese Destroyer Captain and even looked back to Frank's Guadalcanal to see if he mentioned it. I had thought I pulled it from SS Vol 83 but after looking back over it, i can only find an emergency run to New Guinea at that time.

The notation i made was somewhat specific but now i am at a loss. Does anyone have a reference to a run to Guadalcanal on 20 November?

I thought only submarines were active on resupply missions in that period?

AFAIK some of the old light cruisers (Kitakami, Oi, Kuma) were being readied for such work along the route Manila>Rabaul>Guadalcanal (with Heidan-cho LTGEN Mano Gorō & troops on Kuma) but that ate up time & nothing came of it...

No Japanese DD made a reinforcement run to Guadalcanal on 20 November...I just went through all the DD TROMs on combinedfleet.com and could find no reference to such a mission on that date.
