Greetings fellow Mumbaikar ;) :)

NavSource main Page

The Pearl Harbor Attack : Index of Action Reports

Attacked Without A Warning

I hope those helped. There's TONS of info on those sites. The last one is a bit more colourful and picturesque than the first two :)

Regards,
John

Is it true that Yamamoto was not present with the task force?

I’ve heard that Admiral Yamamoto was not present, but I also heard that the NAGATO was part of the Kidō Butai which was Admiral Yamamoto’s ship he was assigned to. He was present on the NAGATO when the radio message “Tora, Tora, Tora!” was received.

Nagato was the Flagship of the Combined Fleet and stayed at Hashirajima Anchorage on 8 December 1941 Tokyo Time.

Agreed. NAGATO was NOT with Kido Butai when it struck Pearl Harbor. She never operated with the carriers as she was way too slow. The only battleships that could keep pace with the carriers were the four KONGO class ships.
