The huge Japanese submarine found in 2005 is the I-401 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_ ... ediscovery). The first I-400 class submarine, the I-400, was rediscovered off O'ahu in 2013 by the Pisces V submersible, while the I-402 was rediscovered off the Goto Islands near Kyushu in 2015.
