Last Japanese Soldier to Surrender
Can anyone give me a biography or ID of Captain Fumio Nakahira?
He was the last Imperial Japanese soldier to surrender, giving up in April 1980 on the island of Mindoro at the foot of Mt Falcon. So far, these are the only basic details I know, apart from the fact that he was a Captain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx in advance.

Re: Last Japanese Soldier to Surrender
Nope! I also struggled with this same question...… but after a lot of searching, I uncovered why there's NO additional information. it's a hoax... that appears to have been read and reposted a few too many times so many assume they found him cause at least half the sources out there say they did (curiously with 0 additional info though!).
there were indeed rumors of him and they found a cave in 1980 that they believe he had lived in but it looked like nobody had been there for quite some time. News got out that they found him and he surrendered but it's 100% a hoax as far as I've uncovered, just one that's been copied a few too many times, so now many/most English sources mention it, perpetuating the belief that he was found, and confusing the heck out of you and me as to why there's no other information. They never found him. Presumably died before 1980.
