Hi GreghSingh

Many thanks. Alas, this one I found easily and gross GDP is my preferred option. However, it is finding a 1950 ot thereabouts eqiovalent that is proving difficult. I can also readily find data for 1950 onwards but presenting GDP in different ways (eg % of EU GDP, per capita GDP rtc). Frustratingly, all of these must have been arrived at from a calculation based on gross GDP, however, without knowing what the methodology was, it is impossible to calculate back to the gross. :(

Incidentally, I am most surporised that Poland's gross GDP was that muych greater than that of Czechoslovakia, even taking into account that Czechoslovakia was a smaller country than Poland.

Certainly! I can provide you with some historical GDP data for the countries you mentioned, although please note that Czechoslovakia no longer exists as it split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993.

Here are the estimated GDP figures for 1938 and 1950:
Poland:

1950: The estimated GDP in 1950 for Poland was around $20.8 billion USD (in constant 1990 international dollars).
Romania:
1938: The estimated GDP in 1938 for Romania was around $8.2 billion USD (in constant 1990 international dollars).
1950: The estimated GDP in 1950 for Romania was around $14.1 billion USD (in constant 1990 international dollars).
Hungary:
1938: The estimated GDP in 1938 for Hungary was around $9.5 billion USD (in constant 1990 international dollars).
1950: The estimated GDP in 1950 for Hungary was around $11.2 billion USD (in constant 1990 international dollars).
Czechoslovakia (Estimates for Czech Republic and Slovakia are available after 1993):
1938: The estimated GDP in 1938 for Czechoslovakia was around $18.6 billion USD,(in constant 1990 international dollars).
